 Legal Fees

Our Fee Structure

Pursuant to Act LXXVIII of 2017 on Attorneys-at-Law, an attorney is entitled to a legal fee and reimbursement of costs for the services provided. An attorney-client engagement is established when the parties have agreed on the scope of the engagement, the legal fee and the foreseeable costs.

The legal fee is subject to the free agreement of the parties. Its amount is determined in advance and individually in the attorney-client engagement agreement, taking into account fairness, reasonableness, the complexity of the case, the value of the matter and the level of attorney responsibility involved.

As a general rule, legal fees are payable in advance. However, depending on the individual circumstances of the client and the case, deferred payment or payment in instalments may also be agreed.

Our office is not subject to VAT; therefore, no VAT is charged on our legal fees.

Our fees generally depend on

The level of attorney responsibility involved

Legal fees may generally be based on a fixed fee, an hourly rate or, where legally and ethically permissible, a success fee. In the case of a fixed fee, the attorney’s remuneration is determined in advance and does not depend directly on the number of hours spent on the case.

In the case of an hourly fee arrangement, the legal fee depends on the number of hours spent on the matter. A success fee may be agreed in certain cases, where the attorney becomes entitled to the fee upon the successful outcome of the matter.
